Zeg's Egg Banner

ABOUT

Eleven eggs have been hidden in Zeg's mystical but treacherous forest. A maximum of eleven hundred and eleven hunters have been invited to search for them.

Hunters who can guess closest to an egg's position, as calculated by squared Euclidean distance, will be awarded that egg. The hunting fee is zero point zero eleven ether (aka eleven finney). The hunt will last for eleven hundred and eleven blocks after the search begins. Egg locations will be revealed shortly thereafter and the winners will receive their eggs.

Good luck, hunters. You are going to need it.

IMMINENT DANGER

BE WARNED! Only the most noble of hunters will be awarded an egg. The rest will perish, lose their hunt fee, and leave their grieving families with nothing.

DO NOT ENTER THE FOREST IF THIS IS A RISK YOU CANNOT AFFORD.

ARTIST NOTE

I was inspired to build this after coming across a tweet by banteg (@bantg), where he shared a new Solidity library called Legible Math. Its sole purpose is to let smart contracts replace numbers with letters, ie o*n*e + o*n*e instead of 1+1. The math behind it is hilariously technical (see details here), and while it’s arguably pointless, it’s whimsical enough that I couldn’t resist the urge to build something around it.

My goal was to build a simple art project that used no numeric literals in the entire main contract. This required some silliness of my own, including custom wrappers of ERC721 and keccak256 to make them usable as ERCSevenTwentyOne and keccak. Ultimately the goal was achieved and the outcome is Zeg's Eggs. This was created as a one off and there is no intention to extend the lore or scope of the project. 11 players will find eggs, and the rest of them will lose their hunt fees.

This project was heavily vibe coded, driven by the desire to ship something by Easter given the theme. All code and art was created by me, with help from AI tools. I obviously borrowed aesthetic inspiration from my unreleased project Natives. Hopefully this will be the match to reignite the fire to finish it.

Special thanks to beta testers: Kurokeh (2X), Julia, Gregor, 0xQuit, Coffee, Rookmate, crypt0packa, and Maskzilla

Extra special thanks to 0xfff for reviewing the contract and then helping me fight fires this morning so I could launch on time

I'm impressed you made it this far. If you joined the hunt, please sign this little bird as proof of reading. sign this bird
